Rare amethyst and agate, sourced directly from the volcanic heart of Uruguay. No two pieces alike.
Roughly 130 million years ago, as the ancient supercontinent Gondwana began to tear apart, immense volumes of lava poured across what is now southern Brazil and Uruguay. As the basalt cooled, gas bubbles trapped within it left behind hollow cavities.
Over millions of years, silica-rich water moved slowly through the rock, depositing quartz crystal by crystal until each cavity became a geode.
We work directly with Le Stage Minerals, a family-run operation with more than four decades extracting amethyst and agate from the fields around Artigas, Uruguay — among their discoveries, the world's largest known amethyst geode. There are no intermediaries between the mine and the piece you see here. Every specimen is one of a kind. The Earth does not repeat itself.
A glimpse of what comes out of Artigas. Each specimen below is unique — once a piece sells, it will not be replaced by an identical one.
Parana-Etendeka Minerals is a London-based project created to connect the world with some of the most extraordinary gemstones on Earth.
Our name is inspired by the Paraná-Etendeka geological formation, born from the separation of Africa and South America over 130 million years ago — a phenomenon that created the ideal conditions for the formation of exceptional crystals, including world-class amethysts.
We work in partnership with Amethyst1, Uruguay's leading gemstone company, with direct access to mines in the Artigas region. This allows us to offer authentic, ethically sourced and truly unique natural pieces — without intermediaries.
Each stone tells a story.
No two are ever the same.
